CENTRAL ITALY, Emilia(?). Late 4th to early 3rd 
century BC. Æ Ramo Secco (527.71 gm). Fragment of 
a bronze ingot. Branch with no leaves / Branch 
with no leaves. Thurlow & Vecchi AS 1; Haeberlin 
pl. 7, 6. VF, heavy green patina with 
earthen-brown encrustation. ($1500)

The Ramo Secco cast ingots are the most common of 
the cast bars of the fourth and third centuries 
BC. Always found in fragments and subdivisions, 
they generally weigh anywhere from 500 grams to 
2000 grams, normally with weak or missing designs. 
They are found predominantly in Emilia, hence the 
attribution to this city.
