Nice Roman Egypt AR Tetradrachm of NERO
Roman Egypt circa 64-56 AD, during the reign of
Nero, who ruled from 54-61 AD. 

radiate bust of
Nero facing right, with Greek legends for NERO.KLAV.KAIS.SEB.GER.AV. The
reverse type features an eagle standing left, palm in background, with
regnal year LIA at left, and a simpulum at right. The Greek legend for
AVTOKRA appears around. Coin shows lightly granular surfaces, as is often
seen with Egyptian provincial issues, but otherwise grades Near VF, with
clear to bold devices and legends where struck up, and a nice portrait.
Much nicer in hand than in the scan! A pleasing example of the type,
Milne 237.
