  Gordian III & Tranquillina. Odessus. AE 26.

     An AE 26 of Gordian III (AD 238-244) in VF condition with dark
     patina. Cf. Sear 3799 (different reverse).

     Obv. Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Gordian III right facing
     diademed, draped bust of Tranquillina left.

     Rev. Dikaiosyne (Aequitas) standing left, holding scales and sceptre.
     Wheel to left. E in field.

     Struck at Odessus in Thrace between AD 241 (when Gordian married
     Tranquillina) and 244. The E on the reverse marks the denomination (5
     assaria).
