Gordian III, Lot of 2 antoniniani, first Antioch series. (238-244 
AD). . Comprising (a) Silver antoninianus, 5.54 gm, Antioch, ca. 239 
AD, IMP CAES M ANT GORDIANVS AVG, bust radiate, draped, cuirassed 
right / CONCORDIA AVG, Concordia standing left, holding patera and 
cornucopia, no altar at her feet. Apparently the only specimen known 
without the altar at Concordia’s feet; not in Bland, RIC, or Cohen. 
(b) Another similar coin, 4.38 gm, with two branches protruding from the altar, an unpublished var. 
Var of Bland 9, RIC 178a, and Cohen 58, 
TWO COINS IN LOT. Extremely fine.
