Caracalla AE Medallion

    Pergamon. Caracalla. 198-217 AD. AE Medallion, 43mm. Laureate
    and cuirassed bust right, cuirass ornamented with a
    gorgoneion.
    R. Emperor on horseback right, raising his right hand; before
    him, a turreted female figure (Tyche of the town) holding 
a statue of Asklepios.

    This medallion is one of the series issued to commemorate
    Caracalla's visit to the temple of Asklepios in Pergamon in
    214 AD.
