DLFA Caracalla AR Denarius Ex-CNG

 Caracalla, born M. Aurelius Antoninus in AD 188 in Lugdunum, was the elder
son of Septimius Severus and Julia Domna. At the age of eight, he was given
   the rank of Caesar and two years later, was created Augustus. Upon the
  death of Severus in AD 211, Caracalla reigned jointly with his brother,
  Geta, as Severus had arranged. In 212, however, Geta was assassinated at
   the order of Caracalla who also caused many powerful and distinguished
Romans to be put to death, so as to consolidate his position as sole ruler.
 His reign was marked by extravagance and cruelty and Caracalla was finally
murdered by the orders of Macrinus, the praetorian prefect on April 8th, Ad
