MODERN FAKE ("REPRODUCTION")

Gold plated pewter, sold by a company in the USA, which makes "reproductions"
of a large number of ancient coins.

The copies are apparently not marked as such and are thus an 
easy trap for collectors.

The company was founded by a person who was "apprentice to his uncle, 
ancient coin expert and reproductionist, Peter Rosa". (Yes, he of the 
"Rosa" forgeries)

This reverse was never originally or officially struck in gold for Alexander.

COPYING:
Alexander III, AR Tetradrachm, Posthumous issue from the Byblos mint.
Head of Herakles right, wearing lionskin headdress.
ALEXANDROY, Zeus seated left, right leg drawn back, left 
foot on a footstool indicated as a line, holding eagle 
and sceptre. 
AR monogram in left field. No symbols.
