Adaeus, King of Macedonia, AE20. Laureate head of
               Apollo right / tripod, ADAIOU to right, monogram & S
               to left. Gaebler 17.

Adaeus. Perhaps a dynast in Macedonia not mentioned 
in  history,  His coins appear to have been struck 
either at Heracleia Sintica or at Scotussa on the road 
between Heracleia and Philippi.  Circ. B.C. 200 (?)
  Head lists four types of bronze, all of the same module 
- Apollo/tripod
- Heracles/club
- Athena/owl
- boar/spear-head
all with reverse legend ADAIOY.

 In SNG Copenhagen under Thracian Kings # 1177-1182. Also in McClean #3685. 

 Adaeus might have been a magistrate under whose authority the coin was minted.
