CALABRIA: Tarentum. Ca. 272-235 BC. AR nomos (6.40 gm).

Helmeted, cuirassed warrior on horse cantering right, 
holding spear and shield, APOL[L]/WNI[OS] under horse / 
Taras astride dolphin left, holding trident and crowned 
from front by Nike, line of waves below. SNG ANS 1212. 
Cf. Vlasto 894-896. Horseman's head a little flat on 
obverse. Nicely toned and nearly extremely fine
