     This piece is struck on the typically small thick flan that is
     characteristic of the Carthage Mint, and measures 12 mm in
     diameter. The weight of 4.35 grams is that of a full solidus. The
     obverse of this type depicts the facing busts of Constans II and
     Constantine IV, each wearing crown and chlamys, with fragmentary
     legends D.N.CONTAVN. The reverse features a cross potent on three
     steps, with the mintmark CONOB in the exergue. The legends read
     VICTORIA.Ay, followed by the indictional year IB. Coin shows
     typical Carthage style, and grades Near EF, with bold devices and
     legends where struck up. A very nice example of this rare
     Carthage Mint gold type, Sear Byzantine 1039.
